Hawthorn, Crataegus oxyacantha
Hawthorn harmonizes four out of five of the heart functions. It is also a harmonizer for the Central and Autonomic Nervous Systems. It addresses anxiety and sleep difficulties.
Why Lauren loves Hawthorn Gemmo
I have taken this extract often but it is most profound in the very moment I was sure my heart would break and it offered the most beautiful and gentle support.
Hawthorn Tree
Hawthorn is a thorny shrub, very rowdy, 6 to 12 feet (2 to 4 meters) high, generally found in wasteland, hedgerows, vineyards and orchards, in forest edges and clearings of the Northern Hemisphere. It grows on calcareous, alkaline soil as long as it is always in full light. It can live up to 200 years, some specimens are even thousands of years old. Its luxuriant bloom covers the shrub with many white, or sometimes pink, flowers that become haws, small red fruits that will remain on the tree until winter to serve as food for birds. In mythology, it is a symbol of health, prosperity, strength, protection, healing and fertility. In Ancient Greece, wedding guests brought a Hawthorn twig as a promise of happiness and prosperity for the newlyweds.
